A lot of the time, I find myself listening to the same song, or CD over and over again.

This week, I have been listening to this song by Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors called “Live Forever”. I heard it at the Parenthood episode from last week. There was something about it that I just couldn’t shake. So I went and downloaded it, and sure enough. I haven’t been able to turn it off. I’ve listened to it over and over, and at first I wasn’t able to figure out what it was that drew me to this song. Then as I listened to it over and over again, I realized that it reminded me of my dad. It was interesting as I realized that, because the verses sounded like things he would have said to me. The chorus though. The chorus. Seemed to cry out what I’d been feeling the past few weeks as the memorial date of his death came and went. It’s a great song, go give it a listen.

The other thing I haven’t been able to stop listening to this week is the passion: awakening CD. The passion conferences continually produce great worship albums that you can put on and use anywhere any time. The two tracks that caught my attention the most were Awakening by Chris Tomlin, and Like a Lion by the David Crowder Band. Like a Lion in a powerful, driven song, that helped remind me of where to find God. Awakening is not as strong sounding, in the sense that it doesn’t necessarily overload your ears with sound, but it’s got a great build, and you can’t help but sing along with it. This is a great CD, that I would definitely recommend getting asap.

Happy Listening.
